ICS Triplex has recently completed a successful Integrated Factory Acceptance Test (IFAT) at their Paris offices, for the Sonatrach project Assekaifef in Algeria. ICS Triplex, who worked for the contractor Brown and Root Condor (ALGER), connected the Trusted™ TMR system to the SMAR DCS system via a serial link. This made the project the first joint venture between the two companies in what is hoped to be a continuing series of partnerships.
Assekaifef is a gas dehydration and glycol process in Amena of Southwest Algeria and a significant project in the development of the petrochemical industry in Algeria .
ICS Triplex France were involved with designing the F&G field equipment arrangement, the fire and gas cause and effect diagram and installation manual, as well as providing the Trusted™ system equipped with a Zone Interface Module (ZIM) and the SmartSlot technology.
The ZIM, which is specifically designed for field equipment in fire and gas applications, provided a flexible fire and gas solution in one single module. This cut out the costs that would have been incurred by using separate modules for analogue inputs, digital inputs and digital outputs making it a more economic option.
By using the SmartSlot technology, Sonatrach are able to swap modules with no shutdown using one spare slot, reducing the space required by 50% as well as cutting down on cost even further.
"The nature of Trusted™ TMR technology easily lends itself to application specific developments, as used on the Assekaifef project. We believe in providing specialised solutions and invest in product development to achieve this successfully," said Peter Mottershead, CEO for ICS Triplex.
