News Release - May 2004 |
ICS Triplex continues good work with PEMEX
Last year ICS Triplex Houston successfully completed and shipped two systems (ESD and Fire and Gas) for Mexico's national oil company PEMEX for the Akal-MB Offshore Platform Project (EPC-85); the Mexican construction company COMMSA was the main contractor, and Siemens Mexico acted as sub-contractor for the supply and installation of all the automation and safety-related equipment. Building upon this successful project, ICS Triplex Houston signed purchase orders for two more PEMEX Offshore projects: E-KU-A2 (COMMSA) and KU-C (Bosnor) this month.
These platforms are part of PEMEX Exploration and Production's program to build 17 new platforms in the KU-Maloob-Zaap Production Field in the Gulf of Mexico in the next 7 years. The scope for the E-KU-A2 project consists of supplying one Emergency Shutdown System and one Fire and Gas System, while the scope for the second platform (KU-C) will be to supply one Fire and Gas System. Both COMMSA and Bosnor are based in Tampico in North East Mexico. The scheduled ship dates for the systems are August 2004 for the KU-C project, and September 2004 for E-KU-A2. These orders reinforce our presence in the region and our relationship with Siemens and bring us closer to the 100-System mark sold to PEMEX. It is aimed that PEMEX Exploration and Production will invest USD$3,800M in various projects for the Ku-Maloob-Zaap field between now and 2011. This field is located in the Bay of Campeche, 105 km NE of Ciudad del Carmen. A total of 84 wells will be drilled (78 production and 4 for Nitrogen Injection); of the 17 platforms, 7 will be Drilling Platforms, 4 Production and 1 Link/Compression (E-KU-A2), plus 4 living quarters platforms and one for Telecommunications. It is projected that at the completion of this investment Ku-Maloob-Zaap will be producing 800,000 barrels of crude oil a day.
