ICS Triplex R&D Overview

ICS Triplex operates one of the most proactive R&D departments in the automation industry today. With a team of over 30 people worldwide and allocated funds totalling 7.5% of the Company's turnover, ICS Triplex puts in the resources to make a difference.

The R&D team is comprised of Design Engineers, Senior Design Engineers and general Technical Authorities based in Europe and in North America . Over the years, this team has built an extensive range of expertise and knowledge focused in the highly specialised field of the design and implementation of safety related, fault-tolerant products.

Standards

Within the ICS Triplex R&D team, experts in validation ensure all products comply with as many industry standards as possible. This includes IEC 61508 SIL1-3, TUV to AK6, NFPA 72, 85 and 86 for fire and gas detection applications and OPC compliance for Trusted™ as well as the ISaGRAF programming tools for compliance with IEC61131. ICS Triplex continues to certify its products against a wide variety of international standards.

Key Technology Developments

In the last few years, the R&D team has developed Trusted™ making it the RunSafe™ safety system with:

  • the fastest execution times
  • the most comprehensive diagnostics
  • the ability to exchange information from a number of systems
  • automatic monitoring/testing of field devices, including valves
  • the use of the least amount of physical space of any TMR System
  • the ability to cover the largest application area
  • enhanced fault containment regions
  • enhanced degradation modes 3-3-2-0
  • base hardware platform to allow custom application code to execute at each I/O module; this feature has allowed very fast time to market for specialised applications such as Valve Testing, Zone Interface Modules and Customer Specific Developments .
  • fast SOE recording 1ms per event independent of the size of a system
  • an OPC Server; data access plus alarm and events
